Hibernian Community Foundation were once again honoured to serve over 500 people Christmas Day Lunch from Easter Road at the end of last year, supported by the Ellen & Ian Graham Charitable Foundation.
Over 330 people attended Easter Road Stadium to receive their meals on the day while over 180 people in the local area were delivered food by an army of volunteers.
More than 90 people turned out at Easter Road to volunteer their time on Christmas Day, overwhelming HCF staff with their generosity, dedication and enthusiasm. The volunteers aided by helping setting up tables on Christmas Eve, packing and driving cars for meal delivery on Christmas Day, and serving food at Easter Road.
Joining the dedicated volunteers on the day was a cast of Hibernian Men’s and Women’s players: including captain Joe Newell, Nathan Moriah-Welsh and Mykola Kuharevich; and Ellis Notley, Eilidh Adams, Kirsten Reilly, and Lia Tweedie. The players were joined by managers David Gray and Grant Scott, as well as Hibernian FC Executive Director Ian Gordon and Sporting Director Malkay Mackay.

“It’s a fantastic event,” David Gray told Sky Sports on the day. “It wouldn’t be possible without the amount of volunteers that come out. It’s good to give back at this time of year, which we know can be tough for many. There’s been a real sense of togetherness.”
Steven Smith, HCF Board Chair also spoke to Sky, adding: “Today is a culmination of a year’s work for the foundation. We feed people multiple times a week from our hub, so to do it on a larger scale on the most special day of the year really shows how dedicated we are.”
Speaking to Hibs TV recently Ian Gordon highlighted both the success of the day and its importance to the Hibernian calendar: “Our family loves the event, we participate every year. It’s a full testament to the hard work of the community foundation to put on such a great event.”
Feeding 500 from Easter Road would not have been possible without the support of our generous Christmas Appeal sponsors and funders. As well as the abovementioned Ellen & Ian Graham Charitable Foundation, HCF were fortunate to receive support from the Hanlon Stevenson Foundation, The SPFL Trust, the Hibernian Match Programme, abrdn, Hibernian Supporters Association, Utilita Giving, Morrisons Portobello Road, Dnipro Kids and the Association of Ukrainians for Great Britain.
Christmas Day Lunch for 500 from Easter Road marked the conclusion of the Hibernian 2024 Christmas Appeal, in which HCF raised over £85,000 that will support food provisions in 2025.
