Football Fans In Training 2026: Meet Erin McComisky

As we kick off a new year, Football Fans In Training returns to Easter Road this January!

In 2026 our Football Fans in Training programme will be lead by HCF Community Project Officer Erin McComisky, who recently joined the Foundation.

Erin sat down to talk through her experience prior to getting started at Easter Road, and what people can expect from this year’s FFIT programme.

What is you background in Community Projects and Football?

  • Coming from The Edinburgh Academy as a sports and learning support intern, I gained valuable experience within a sporting environment. During my time at the Academy, I led the P7 girls football programme and supported both the boys and senior girls teams. I have coached since the age of 16, with football always at the forefront of my development. After completing my degree in Sports Coaching in 2024, I knew that working within community football was the career path I wanted to pursue.

What attracted you to want to work with Hibernian Community Foundation?

  • I wanted to work at Hibernian Community Foundation because it offered an exciting new challenge within a community focused environment that aligns with my passion for football. The projects within my job role are so rewarding and allow for me to expand my knowledge.

What are your most excited about in your role with HCF?

  • I think being able to continue to add to the projects with new ideas and be able to put my own twist on things.

What are some of the programmes you have been and will be delivering and leading on?

  • The programmes I have been delivering on is Extra time and Parkinson’s walking football. Within the new year I will be leading on Football Fans in Training.

Tell us a bit more about Football Fans in Training?

  • Football Fans in Training (FFIT) is a health and wellbeing initiative designed to support adults in leading healthier lifestyles through education, physical activity, and community engagement. Sessions will be split into practical and classroom sessions that help to provide participants with the knowledge, motivation and practical tools to make sustainable changes to their health and fitness.

What can people expect to be different about FFIT in 2026?

  • We have exciting prospects for FFIT this year. With experts in their fitness field coming in to share their knowledge and help lead on some of the practical sessions (Personal Trainers and a pilates instructor). By doing so, we have created a strong relationship within the fitness community in the local area to allow for our FFIT participants to have a progression in their fitness journey after the completion of the 12 weeks.
