Foundation Auctioning Signed Proclaimers Guitar in Support of Ukrainian Community

The Foundation is auctioning a guitar signed by Edinburgh popstar’s The Proclaimers, as we look to raise funds to employ a Ukrainian speaker to organise events for the local Ukrainian community.

The guitar has been signed by Craig and Charlie Reid and will be available to purchase via online auction for a limited time only. The auction begins at 12pm on Sunday 20 August with the funds that are raised helping us recruit a Ukrainian speaker to arrange events for refugees.

1300 Ukrainians had been housed on the MS Victoria in Leith until the boats closure on the 11th of July and we are connected to groups that have been re-housed in Lochend, Hillside and Ocean Drive. We want to re-build social networks for Ukrainian families by organising daytime and evening activities in our Community Hub at Easter Road Stadium.

In addition to the auction, Dnipro Kids have committed to support this project.

The Foundation will also be raising funds through this year’s Edinburgh Kiltwalk which a number of First Team players will be participating in.

We are determined to develop our relationship with the Ukrainian Community after supporting them through various events over the last 9 months.

Staging ‘St Nicholas Day’ last Christmas meant over 100 children received Christmas gifts, whilst over 250 Ukrainians received a meal in the West Stand. First Team players had also visited the MS Victoria on behalf of the Club, and we have run a weekly lunch in the Community Hub on Wednesday afternoons. Continued support will aid us in our development of the Ukrainian Community.

Director of the Foundation, Daljit Singh, said:

“The Foundation is delighted to be developing our work with the prominent Ukrainian community around Easter Road and its surrounding areas.

“Funds raised through the auction will allow us to recruit a Ukrainian speaker which will help us support the local community.”
