2025 was a big year for Community Football at the Hibernian Community Foundation on multiple fronts, as the largest weekly attendance ever was recorded!
The yearly delivery included Active Schools sessions and two pathway Soccer Centres at Leith and Trinity Learning Communities. The programmes at the Soccer Centres introduced opportunities for boys and girls aged 3-12 through sessions such as Mini Hibees, Hibs Skill and Girls only. Through funded programmes developed in partnership with the SFA, HCF were able to offer participants free access to sessions, removing financial barriers to participation; delivering on our mission to offer opportunities and Football For All.
With support from HCF’s community partners, the football team successfully delivered the 2025 Hibs Heroes Campaign during school holidays, providing funded places and ensuring opportunities were accessible to all. This year also marked the return of girls-only camp, the continued growth of Mini Hibee camps, and the introduction of a new position-specific camp.
“I am extremely proud of the progress we have seen in community football this year. We launched our Leith Soccer Centre in January, and it has been a pleasure to watch it grow and develop throughout the year,” said Samantha Windram, HCF Football Development Manager.
“Creating a safe, supportive, and rewarding environment for our participants is always our top priority, and it is incredibly encouraging to receive such positive feedback about these sessions. Hearing how they have helped strengthen participants’ confidence and engagement both on the pitch and within their school teams reinforces the value of the work we are doing,”

Through the introduction of HCF’s Women’s Team the Foundation has further strengthened community club player-development, while hosting a Grassroots Invitational at HTC only helped to strengthen community engagement. A further strengthening of engaging with the entire Hibs’ Community was the annual Play on the Pitch event, hosted at Easter Road. On the day more players than ever before were given the opportunity to experience the unforgettable thrill of playing on the same pitch as some of their heroes.
“Events such as these are incredibly exciting for our participants and represent unique opportunities made possible through the support of Hibernian Football Club. Allowing young Hibs fans to play at the same stadium as the men’s and women’s first teams is truly special, nothing short of magical, and often a dream come true for our young Hibees,” commented Samantha about these individual events.
In December it was announced that Paul Greig would be returning as the Head of Football at HCF. Well-known and respected in Edinburgh Football, Paul will lead the team in 2026 to capture more growth and develop HCF’s offering.
None of the remarkable achievements made by HCF’s incredible Community Football Team would be possible without the invaluable support of partners: Active Schools, the SFA, and the local businesses that sponsor Community Club teams.
HCF would like to extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated coaches and volunteers, whose hard work ensures that every participant has the opportunity to learn, grow, and create lifelong memories.
