Hibernian Community Foundation Celebrates Volunteers Week!

This week, June 1st-7th, the Hibernian Community Foundation will be celebrating Volunteers Week: a celebration of the generous people who give up their time to make our programmes, services and activities possible.

At HCF, we rely on volunteers to provide support and their time, and this week we hope to shine a light on them in the best way possible by recognising their contribution and thanking them for everything they do not only for the organisation, but also for those who benefit from our services.

“We couldn’t operate without our volunteers,” said Katie Stewart, Head of Community and Depute CEO.

“To put it simply, they are the backbone of everything we do. From Christmas Day to Happy Hibee ticket sellers and everything in between, we’re extremely grateful for their support.”

Volunteer roles at HCF reach far and wide, and encompass all aspects of our provision. The roles include, but are not limited to: Community Football Coaches, kitchen helpers, befrienders, Happy Hibee draw ticket sellers, oft-needed support for events, and those who support on Christmas Day.

HCF recognises that volunteering in itself can also provide a raft of different benefits for those who choose to partake, adding a positive element to someone’s life who might be searching for something a little more in their life.

“We’ve had volunteers come through in the last few years who have really grown and come out of their shells,” continued Katie.

“From the way they interact with each other as well as with the members of the public who attend our services, we can tell that the volunteers really flourish when given the chance to take responsibility and help out with our services. It’s a huge thing to be able to provide that to a number of people each week.”

Thank you to all the volunteers who selflessly give up their time for HCF and its many services, it does not go unrecognised how much time and effort you give to the Hibernian Community.

As we celebrate Volunteers Week this week, keep your eyes peeled to our channels for more content, as we look to spotlight and thank everything they do to make HCF run.
