Hibernian Community Foundation Extends Partnership with Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation

The Hibernian Community Foundation is delighted to announce the extension of our partnership with the US-based Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation (E&IGF).

This comes after the E&IGF made a significant contribution to HCF’s Community Activities at the conclusion of 2025, pledging support to help feed 500 on Christmas Day from Easter Road. Not only this, E&IGF also contributed to HCF’s delivery of Extra Time in an effort to support even more under-privileged families who benefit from the programme.

“The Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation have been extremely supportive of our work, and their generosity only maximises the potential of what we can do,” said Steven Smith, HCF’s Board Chair.

“Since they began supporting HCF we have been able to increase our impact and reach more people who need support.”

E&IGF began supporting HCF in 2023 when a friend referred them to the work HCF do in the Leith and wider Edinburgh community. Ian Graham’s father, John Graham, was born in Bothwell and after moving to the United States in the 1930s remained connected to his roots in Scotland. Over the course of their lives Ellen and Ian have been passionate about supporting charities who look to aid the delivery of food and support to those who need it most; and felt compelled to support HCF after learning about our community meal programme.

Shanna Graham Trustee of the Ellen and Ian Graham SCIO in Scotland said:

“Studies show that the hours between 3pm and 6pm are a critical window for children and parents alike. What happens during this time can have lasting implications for a young person’s trajectory. We are keen to help Scottish families create more positive “extra time,” and we deeply appreciate the work that Kit, Steve, Ann, and their team are doing. We are pleased to support this initiative.”

At the end of 2025, it is estimated that HCF offered 700 spaces for kids and families in need through Extra Time. The support is not limited to the schooling year, as spots at HCF’s football camps are also made available through the programme.

Feeding 500 from Easter Road has become a cornerstone of the annual work HCF does, and is not possible without the support from partners, such as the Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation. In 2025 over 380 community members were fed at Easter Road’s Behind The Goals suite, while a further 130 were delivered home meals. 74% of those who received a meal live in Scotland’s most deprived communities; with HCF having the target to reach even more in future years.

Through these initiatives, HCF’s commitment to supporting families in need in the Hibernian Community and beyond is unwavering.

The Hibernian Community Foundation is extremely grateful the Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation, our work is not possible without their generosity and that of like-minded partners. We look forward to working closely in years to come to reach more people.
