The Hibernian Community Foundation is the official charity of Hibernian Football Club: honouring the origins of the club by extending support to Leith and the wider Edinburgh community through impactful programmes and activities.
Ahead of this weekends’ Hibernian Community Foundation Matchday at Easter Road, there’s never been a better time for you to familiarise yourself with the work that HCF delivers. Whether it’s school-aged children or those in the older demographics of our population, there is something for everyone at the Hibernian Community Foundation.
Extra Time
The Extra Time Programme is run in partnership with the Scottish FA, aiming at providing “extra time” for both children and parents. Children attending receive “extra time” for physical activity throughout the week, as well as extra meals on multiple days through the week. For the parents, they receive “extra time” back in their lives when they know their children are being supervised, allowing them to pick up extra work, take up extra study, or use the time to tend to tasks they normally wouldn’t have the time to do.
In 2025 it is estimated that 700 spaces were offered to kids and families in need, and in 2026 HCF are looking to support more. To learn more about Extra time, click here.
Extra Time is supported by the Scottish FA, with further support provided by the Ellen & Ian Graham Foundation.
Football Memories
Running every second Monday from the Hibernian Community Hub in Easter Road’s Famous Five Stand, Football Memories provides the chance for football fans to get together and talk about football from yesteryear, as well as dissect the weekend’s action. The group, hosted by Hibernian FC Historian Tom Wright, helps people living with memory loss conditions, including dementia, as well as those experiencing loneliness and social isolation. They often receive visits from former Hibs and Scotland footballers, and have recently participated in away day quizzes at Tynecastle against rivals from the Big Hearts Foundation.
Hibernian Community Choir
After a few months on hiatus, the Hibernian Community Choir returned in late 2025, lead by HCF’s Community Activity Worker Eleanor Conway Holroyd. The choir rehearses every Thursday evening, and is open to any and all who are interested in finding community through a joint love of Hibs and music, although a love of Hibs is not mandatory.
If you or someone you know might be a good fit to join the Hibernian Community Choir, please contact [email protected].
Look out for the Hibernian Community Choir on HCF Matchday as they are performing two sets up both Hibs-related and upbeat tunes to warm the crowd up. They will first perform across the road from the club shop on Albion Place at 1.45pm, before thrilling fans on the East Stand Compound from 2.20pm.
Craft Café
Every Friday morning in the Community Hub Eleanor provides paints, wool, canvasses and everything else you need to master all range of crafts. No level of expertise is needed to join the craft café, with Eleanor providing demonstrations on knitting, painting and crocheting to date.
If you or someone you know might be interested in joining the Craft Café, please contact [email protected].
The Craft Café is part of the Leith Older People’s Project, aiming to provide support for the elderly in the community surrounding Easter Road, and is supported by the National Lottery’s Improving Lives Fund.
Community Meals
The Hibernian Community Foundation has made serving meals to the community a cornerstone of the service provided since formation in 2008. Three community lunches are held a week out of the Hibernian Community Hub: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12pm-2pm, and are delivered by our Community Meals Manager, Cara, and a fleet of dedicated volunteers.
If you or someone you know will benefit from the meals and would like to find out more, please contact [email protected].
Our Community Meals programme is routinely supported by Morrisons and The Hibernian Matchday Programme.
Monday Matchdays
Hosted every second Monday afternoon, on alternative weeks from the Football Memories Group, Mary from Pilmeny Development Project hosts a group of elderly community members for an afternoon of boardgames, quizzes and brain-benders. The group is designed to provide a warm space and sense of community for elderly, socially-isolated individuals who live in Leith and surrounding areas. To learn more, click here.

Tea Dances for the Elderly
Run once a quarter in partnership with Pilmeny Development Project, and Edinburgh Community Sports Hub, the Tea Dances are an opportunity for elderly members of our community to gather, share a meal and enjoy a dance. Attendees from all backgrounds join and dance for hours, serenaded by the ever-popular Jan the Music Man at the Hibs Supporters Club in Sunnyside.

Multicultural Meals
Held in association with our partners from the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society (SABS) and the Scottish Nepalese Association; twice a month the Hibernian Community Hub plays host to multicultural meals, celebrating the incredible diversity in Edinburgh. On the last Tuesday of every month you cannot expect authentic Nepalese delights, while the following week on the first Tuesday of the new month, SABS serves up stand-out Hindi delicacies.
There is no need to book for these meals, simply show up from 6pm on the above days.
Specialist Physical Activity
Have you been looking for new ways to stay active or wanting to try something new? HCF’s specialist physical activities may be just the thing for you. Held on a Thursday at 1pm in the Community Hub, Tai Chi is held with expert instructor Char, while Friday at 12pm in neighbouring Norton Park with Ildi offers something different.

The group often has visitors from Hibernian FC, and change the setting of their sessions to the Easter Road turf from time-to-time to get a different perspective on their thoughts.
