Hibernian Community Foundation was delighted to host the inaugural Pitch-to-Plate community meal on Tuesday 28 May, in partnership with SABS!
Over 120 attendees enjoyed the first multi-Cultural meal through the Pitch-to-Plate project at the Hibernian Supporters Club, Sunnyside, on Tuesday evening.
The Foundation and SABS (Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society) have been working closely to create and launch the brand-new Pitch-to-Plate community project, which will feed communities of Scots and New Scots on a regular basis.
We were overwhelmed with the incredible attendance and energy throughout the evening, as we warmly welcomed people from all walks of life to share a meal together. MP for Edinburgh East, Tommy Sheppard, kindly attended and showcased incredible support for this new initiative.
Head of Community, Lewis Melee, said:
“It was brilliant to welcome so many new community members from across the city and surrounding areas to our first ever Pitch-to-plate on Tuesday evening.
“Food provision is a large part of our outreach at HCF, serving over 200 meals a week with Pitch-to-Plate only adding to this offer in supporting our local community with quality meals and further opportunities to socialise.”
We would like to thank the various SABS volunteers who prepared and served the food and supported the event. This wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s dedication and hard work.
Azhar Hussnain, General Secretary of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, added:
“As a charity focusing on grassroots community efforts, SABS is delighted to have launched Pitch-to-Plate in partnership with the Hibernian Community Foundation.
“The goal here is to extend the provision of meals in a way that is inclusive, nourishing and enriching to those who can benefit from it across the locality.”
