RGFC 2024 Raises Over £20,000

Hibernian Community Foundation is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of the Ron Gordon Football Challenge 2024, which raised an impressive £21,426 to support our Community Meals programme.

Held at the Hibernian Training Centre on Saturday 22 June, the Ron Gordon Football Challenge brought together football enthusiasts of all ages for a day filled with exciting matches, skill showcases, and family-friendly activities. The event was a resounding success, with hundreds of players and fans coming together to celebrate their love for the game whilst supporting a worthy cause.

A significant portion of this success is owed to our esteemed sponsors, whose support and contributions were instrumental in making this event possible.

The Hanlon Stevenson Foundation, known for its unwavering commitment to community development, played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the challenge. Their generous donation of £2,000 set a shining example for others to follow.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to The Hibernian Match Programme. They generously sponsored the 5V5 Youth Challenge, both the Hibs Green and Hibs Purple teams, and covered the costs of food and drink on the day. Their continued support of the Foundation has been invaluable in reaching our fundraising goals.

The Foundation are immensely grateful to Pilot Beer for providing free cans of beer for the second consecutive year. Brewed in the heart of Leith, Pilot have been creating and distributing beer since 2011 and have been tremendous supporters of the Foundation’s work.

Hibernian F.C. enabled this event to run at HTC and offered enormous support throughout the day whilst donating prizes for fundraisers. We would also like to thank the First Team players and Coaching Staff for interacting with participants and getting involved with various activities.

This achievement would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers. From setting up the pitches to coordinating activities and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, their hard work and enthusiasm were the backbone of the Ron Gordon Football Challenge. Their support is truly commendable.

We are also incredibly grateful to the participants who took to the field with energy and sportsmanship. Their passion for football was evident in every match played. It is their enthusiasm and community spirit that inspire us to continue our work.

The funds raised from the Ron Gordon Football Challenge will be directed towards our Community Meals programme, enabling us to provide meals for our local community on a weekly basis.
