Supporting Our Supporters, the monthly mental health drop-in run by HCF volunteers, is hosting our next get-together on Monday April 29th, 7-8.30pm.
So far this year, our meetings have featured specially invited guest speakers; in January, Robert Nesbitt of Scottish Action for Mental Health, in February, the Longbangers podcast team, and last month, first team midfielder, Nathan Moriah-Welsh. All these gatherings have been well attended, our guests delivering talks which have been entertaining, informative, and inspirational.
For April’s meeting, instead of a guest speaker, we will be organising a ‘walk and talk’ session. As you may well be aware, SoS was formed at Hibs as a follow-on to The Changing Room, the 12-week peer support programme for men instigated by SAMH, based in football stadium spaces. Hibs are proud that The Changing Room was pioneered at Easter Road before being rolled out to more than 20 senior Scottish clubs. These sessions offer a diverse range of support activities, but one of the key elements has long been these ‘walk and talk’ sessions.
So, next Monday, the club will be offering unique, pitch-side access to the stadium. Participants can then take the opportunity to stroll around the hallowed turf, taking photos of the stands or around the dugouts while sharing memories of matches enjoyed (or endured!). More importantly, you can chat about anything you feel you’d like to share/unburden. It’s confidential, and free.
April’s meeting is open to everyone interested in finding out how SoS are trying to keep the Hibs community positive!
Monday April 29th, West Stand, kick-off 7pm!
