Hibernian Community Foundation Named Club’s Official Charity

We are delighted to announce the Hibernian Community Foundation as Hibernian Football Club’s Official Charity.

Since its inception in 2008, the Hibernian Community Foundation has worked tirelessly to serve the needs to people of all ages in the local community, taking their values from when Hibs was founded in 1875.

During these tough times, the Community Foundation has come to the fore, using its location – at the core of the Football Club – to have a greater impact than ever before focusing around three key areas:

  • Help with the cost-of-living crisis
  • Help with mental health challenges and isolation
  • Help new members of the community, in particular Ukrainians who find themselves being forced to live a new life

Some of these key projects have included serving over 1,000 lunches every month to those in need, providing a football provision to 600 people per week, helping supporters with mental health, supporting the Ukrainian refugees, and much more.

To support this, the HCF raises money in different ways, most recently through the Kilt Walk, with over £16,500 being raised so far.

The relationship between the Community Foundation and Hibernian FC has never been stronger, and supporters will be able to see some of the magnificent work that we do this Saturday (30 September, 2023) at our special Hibernian Community Foundation match.

Following the announcement, the Gordon Family commented: “We have seen first-hand the work done by the Community Foundation during the last few years, going through some incredibly difficult and challenging times.

“The Hibernian Community Foundation is at the very centre of the Football Club, and we understand that by using the power of football, we can help and inspire people in Leith and the surrounding area.

“Ron was always incredibly passionate about helping our supporters and our community, and we look forward to seeing the Community Foundation go from strength to strength.”

Mags McPherson, Chair at the Hibernian Community Foundation, added: “We are delighted to be named the Club’s official charity and we are excited to continue working hand-in-hand with everyone at the Football Club, and our fans moving forward.

“We have made significant strides over the last 12 months and will continue to help more and more people in the coming months and years, always with the aim of making a positive impact on the lives of those who live in our community.

“We are your foundation, doing your work, for our community. We want every fan to feel part of that and proud of our work.”
