Hibernian CF Win Autism FA South East Region Shield!

Hibernian CF came out victorious in the Autism FA South East Region Shield after playing across two matchdays on Sunday 5 November and Saturday 25 November!

The Hibees took part in two Autism FA South East Region League Events in November, playing 12 matches in total against Bonnyrigg Rose, Edinburgh South, Haddington Athletic and Hutchison Vale. The matches were played played at the Oriam and Poltonhall Sports Complex respectively.

 

All of the games were highly competitive with each team taking points from one another. After the opening league day at the Oriam, Hibernian CF sat second on 15 points after recording 5 victories and 1 loss, which left them trailing Bonnyrigg Rose by 3 points.

 

League Day two brought more healthy competition at the home of Bonnyrigg Rose Community FC – Poltonhall Sports Complex. Once again, each club was winning matches and picking up points creating excitement in the league table as we edged closer to the final matches.

 

Hibernian CF and Bonnyrigg Rose both finished the day on 27 points sharing a final record of 9 wins and 3 losses.

 

To the players, coaches and parents delight, the Neurodiverse Hibees superior goal difference gave them a very well deserved top spot finish as they lifted the AFA South East Region Sheild!

The players represented themselves, their parents/coaches, the club, the Foundation and Team United incredibly well, winning with humility and keeping impeccable sportsmanship throughout.

 

Hibernian CF will progress onto the Autism FA Premiership League event set to be played at Falkirk Stadium on Sunday 24 March 2024.

 

There they will face South East opposition Bonnyrigg Rose again, as well as West and North Region winners and runners up; Greenock Morton, Rangers CF and the top two north region teams that are yet to be confirmed.

 

Finally, the team will compete in the Autism FA Scottish Cup Event upon completion of the Premiership and Championship events. This will be played at the end of May or start of June 2024.
