Supporting Our Supporters: Events Scheduled for 2024

Supporting Our Supporters returns next week!

One of the diverse initiatives delivered by the Foundation, Supporting Our Supporters (SoS) is run by volunteers who’ve participated in The Changing Room sessions held at the stadium. (Delivered over 12-week sessions by Scottish Action for Mental Health coaches, The Changing Room is a programme aimed at promoting positive mental health, piloted at Easter Road and Tynecastle back in 2018, then rolled out across Scotland’s senior clubs.)

SoS Drop-ins

SoS host these free, informal drop-ins in the Foundation’s function rooms on the last Monday of every month. The door is open to all, from The Changing Room participants past/present to anyone in the community who feels they might benefit from being welcomed into a private space to share experiences or just to listen to others. Sometimes we chat over coffee and biscuits; on other occasions, weather permitting, the Foundation arrange pitch-side access, these so-called ‘walk and talk’ sessions providing the perfect environment for relaxing and offloading!

Guest Speakers

SoS have invited keynote speakers to previous drop-ins, including John ‘Yogi’ Hughes, the former Hibs player and manager, Brian McDermott, appointed Hibs’ Director of Football last summer, and Ger Freedman, the Leith Athletic chairman, who gave an intriguing insight into his involvement in the ‘Hands Off Hibs’ campaign.

Dates for Your Diary

Monday 29th January, 7-8.30 pm

SoS will be kicking-off 2024’s events by inviting our next speaker, Robert Nesbitt. Robert is SAMH’s Head of Physical Activity and Sport and is passionate about harnessing the power of physical activity for promoting mental health and wellbeing. His talk is guaranteed to be inspirational.

Monday 26th February, 7-8.30 pm

SoS have already pencilled in the guest speakers for the year’s second monthly drop-in, the guys behind Longbangers, a weekly podcast covering the talking points from every Hibs match, and its offshoot, Heidbangers, ‘talking about all things mental health.’

All are welcome to our monthly drop-ins with the meet taking place at the West Stand for a 7pm kick-off!
